Halloween Party, Family Night Out and Battling Sickness!

How is it Monday already?  I swear the weekends seem to go by faster and faster!  We had a busy weekend with lots of fun.  We started out with a Halloween party with some old friends on Friday night.  It was lots of fun and great catching up!  The hubby and I went for last-minute costumes from out closet and my parents matched the little guy as bikers.  He absolutely loves motorcycles and was so excited for this outfit.  So much so that he wants to wear the bandana all the time now!

Saturday morning started out with breakfast with my sister who was visiting from Burlington, VT.  My dad and brother came as well, so we had a nice time!  Afterward, they came over to play with the little guy before his nap.

I wasn’t too hungry after a big breakfast, so I snacked on an apple & cheddar cheese while the boy slept.  This is a snack that my grandmother used to feed us.  It always brings me back to being a little kid!

The little man hasn’t been napping as long lately and he was up before I got much done, so I enlisted his help to pull out all my boots and put away the summer shoes.  Fortunately, he’s still at an age where this kind of stuff is fun!

I need some organization help for my boots!

After that we snacked on a banana while we cooked up some TJ’s chocolate chip cookies. DSCN0795 I love these because they don’t have too many extra ingredients and are quick and easy.  The best part is that the egg is pasteurized, so I like to sneak a little bit of raw dough!DSCN0790

Once the husband got home, it was off to The Standard for dinner.  We had a nice time and the little guy was wonderful, but the food was somewhat disappointing.  We hadn’t been there for dinner in a while, but they participate with Open table which is a great way to get a table on a Friday or Saturday night when you have a little one who may not be so patient!

Merlot and water

I had the Miso Glazed Sea Bass with asparagus and baby bok choy. The veggies and rice were delicious, but the sea bass was not as good as it has been in the past.

Little guy went for a hamburger and thought it was great to dip it in his applesauce. Sounds gross, but whatever keeps him happy!

Not a bad view!

Lastly, we stopped at a new indoor go-kart track to let our little motor head watch them race. He was in heaven!

Unfortunately, Sunday I woke up feeling pretty under the weather.  Sore throat, achy muscles, not fun!  I was hoping to get the grocery shopping done and head to the park for a nice long walk/jog with the little guy, but that did not happen.  Thank goodness the Shop Rite store in our area delivers!  The groceries won’t come until tomorrow, but at least it’s done!  Hubby had big plans to try to do more work on our retaining wall after working for a couple of hours in the morning.  The good news was, my little man was such a good boy for mommy even though we weren’t able to run around like we usually do.  I laid down for a bit while he napped, but once again, he woke up after only about 1 1/2 hours instead of his usual 3.  I hope this doesn’t mean this will become his new normal.  It’s amazing what I can get done in 3 hours on my day off!

When he woke up, the little guy went outside to help Daddy while I laid down a little more.  We had plans to have dinner at my parents before my sister left to go home, but I just wasn’t feeling up to it.  I guess I should count my blessings because this is the first time I’ve been sick since the little one was born!  Luckily, my wonderful husband took the little guy over there so that they could eat and see my sister before she left which allowed me to lay on the couch for a few more hours.  My fur baby kept me company!

She always gets those creepy eyes!

Thankfully, I woke up this morning feeling much better.  Not 100%, but certainly well enough to make it in to work!

How was your weekend?  Any fun Halloween parties?  Any foods that bring you back to your childhood?
